Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)

The United Soccer League (USL) serves as a cornerstone of American soccer, impacting numerous communities across the nation. It is the pioneering organization in the U.S. to create a comprehensive pathway for both male and female athletes, encompassing three professional leagues: USL Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); alongside two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Dynamic, engaging, and essential, the USL is committed to delivering an inclusive and memorable soccer experience for players, fans, and communities within our expanding 'soccer nation.'

Program Purpose

Guided by USL Executives and Leaders (mentors), the USL Work Experience Program (UWEP) offers students a unique chance to acquire practical sport management experience within a professional sports league environment. Participants will engage in various strategic projects and initiatives, gaining hands-on experience with league staff and member teams.

Participants will collaborate within a specialized department while also interacting with all league departments, including business development, digital media, club services, analytics, and more. The ultimate aim is to provide students with a comprehensive and practical work experience in the sports industry.

Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Broadcasting Media team, the Broadcasting Media - USL Super League UWEP plays a vital role in supporting the department by assisting in the creation and analysis of various reports, as well as conducting reviews and audits of broadcasts that significantly influence overall league and team revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring matches for the USL Super League. In the absence of active games, reviewing and auditing previous matches.
  • Managing media monitoring through various partners and platforms, including YouTube.
  • Analyzing broadcasting media strategies.
  • Assisting other departments and operational areas as needed to provide a well-rounded perspective on working in sports.
Qualifications
  • Participants must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field and must confirm eligibility to receive college course credit from an accredited institution for their participation.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • A positive attitude and a strong work ethic are essential, along with a 'team-first' mentality and a willingness to learn.
  • Candidates should be highly organized and detail-oriented, focusing on quality and consistency.
  • While participating in the USL Work Experience Program remotely, candidates must have access to a computer or laptop with a reliable internet connection.
