As we advance our satellite constellation, establishing a worldwide network of ground stations and gateways is essential.
GROUND STATION ENGINEER II
This role is pivotal within our team, focusing on the design and management of ground systems that serve as the central communication hub for our satellite network.
You will be the go-to engineer for your peers; your technical expertise and proactive attitude will be crucial in overcoming challenges and driving projects forward.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, implement, and maintain communication hardware for SpaceX satellite ground stations.
Develop comprehensive integration and testing strategies for various components of the ground systems.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of hardware, from conception and design to procurement, integration, and maintenance.
Maintain thorough documentation for all elements of ground station design.
Conduct design evaluations and collaborate with subject matter experts (RF, networking, software, etc.) to fulfill all specifications.
Provide financial forecasts for different aspects of the project.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace, physics, computer science, or civil engineering.
Experience in designing and constructing RF communication systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with electromechanical and software-controlled systems.
Understanding of IP networking principles.
Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Experience in hardware integration and testing.
Proficiency with RF, electrical, and networking testing tools (spectrum analyzers, vector analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Field support and leadership in project execution.
Experience in ground infrastructure for satellite communications (SATCOM).
Creative problem-solving skills and strong analytical capabilities.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving needs and requirements.
Excellent communication skills.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Availability for extended hours and weekends as necessary.
