Position Overview:

As a key member of the Finance team, the Accounting Associate will report directly to the Accounting Manager and play a vital role in enhancing the overall efficiency of our financial operations. This position involves supporting various functions within Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Financial Planning. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within our dynamic, direct-to-consumer lifestyle business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and record journal entries while ensuring accurate account reconciliations during the monthly closing process.
  • Manage monthly intercompany transactions.
  • Assist in the weekly processing of accounts payable.
  • Support the preparation for our annual audit.
  • Collaborate with the senior Financial Planning & Analysis analyst to refine the business financial model.
  • Create and modify spreadsheets using Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Participate in special finance projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Prior experience in an Accounting, Accounts Payable, or Finance role.
  • A proven track record of academic and/or extracurricular excellence.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and proficient in spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on quantitative problem-solving.
  • A solid work ethic with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • An interest in eCommerce, direct-to-consumer models, or the publishing industry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Resilience and determination when faced with challenges, along with a desire for diverse learning experiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A passion for contemporary fiction or familiarity with Book of the Month.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
