Position Overview:
The Formulation & Process Development team at Gilead Sciences is seeking a Senior Research Scientist II to contribute to the scientific and technical advancement of drug discovery and product development focused on small molecules.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Research Scientist II will be responsible for:
1. **Lead Optimization**: Engage in the refinement of lead compounds.
2. **API Form Selection and Characterization**: Determine the optimal active pharmaceutical ingredient forms.
3. **Pre-formulation and Formulation Development**: Develop and optimize formulations for clinical trials.
4. **Manufacturing Clinical Supplies**: Oversee the production of clinical trial materials.
5. **Process Development**: Create efficient and scalable manufacturing processes, including process scale-up utilizing Quality by Design (QbD) principles.
6. **Innovative Technologies**: Implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance product development.
7. **Regulatory Strategy**: Manage global regulatory strategies and collaborate with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Expertise in formulation and process development for solid oral dosage forms and/or parenteral products.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC/UPLC and solid-state characterization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
