Position Overview

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst with a diverse skill set and experience to support our Integrated Missions Systems (IMS) sector. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines while working within the program management office (PMO). This role involves collaborating with technical project managers and clients to execute essential project functions. We are looking for a candidate who can identify opportunities in challenges, thrive in a dynamic team environment, and enhance operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the PMO Integrated Performer Team (IPT) to ensure timely and budget-compliant execution of high-visibility research and development initiatives.
  • Assist project managers in developing technical direction plan (TDP) budgets, preparing spending plans, and fulfilling deliverables. Create and maintain Excel models to closely monitor budget allocations and incurred costs.
  • Serve as the primary resource for technical project leads, facilitating effective communication between the PMO IPT and project stakeholders.
  • Engage directly with technical project leads, project managers, subcontractors, external vendors, and PMO personnel throughout the acquisition life cycle to analyze and monitor project performance effectively.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators; proactively analyze data to identify necessary actions to align project financial obligations with available funding.
  • Compile spreadsheets, develop charts, and create narrative summaries to convey project performance for program management reviews, progress reports, and client presentations.
  • Assist in drafting TDP amendments, cost estimates, and subcontractor statements of work (SOWs) using approved templates and adhering to established company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager to continuously enhance processes, develop templates, and provide training to improve program efficiencies.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance. A current clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, or Accounting with a minimum of 4 years of experience in financial analysis or project performance management.
  • Experience with GSA Assisted Acquisition Services and legacy GSA FEDSIM program management processes, with the ability to communicate these processes to technical project leaders, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Proficient in managing and controlling project budgets using advanced Microsoft Excel modeling skills, with a demonstrated ability to derive insights from large volumes of multi-source financial data.
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment; capable of working effectively under tight deadlines and interacting with a diverse range of personnel.
  • Interest in professional development towards a project or program management role, with the ability to enhance skills and knowledge to communicate effectively with ARA's senior leadership, government clients, and funding customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
