Position Overview:

McWane is currently in search of a Core Production Technician. This role is essential in maintaining the operational integrity of our core production processes.

Job Summary:

The Core Production Technician is tasked with managing the core machine from initial setup through to the final racking stage. This position ensures that quality assurance protocols are adhered to, and that the products align with client specifications, while also maintaining cleanliness in the production environment.

Compensation: $23.77 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize personal and team safety at all times.

  • Employ correct lifting and ergonomic techniques.
  • Interpret work orders or receive verbal instructions to ascertain work tasks and necessary materials or equipment.
  • Follow detailed job-specific guidelines to ensure efficient production of castings that meet customer standards.
  • Operate pneumatic and manual hoists, tow motors, and other related machinery.
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment.
  • Select and set up the appropriate core box based on work orders, making necessary operational adjustments.
  • Inspect cores for defects and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Manage the sifting and packing of sand into core boxes.
  • Maintain and repair core boxes, ensuring they are clean and free of surface imperfections.
  • Document production quantities and times for each work order.
  • Handle the loading and unloading of cores from ovens.
  • Remove cores from boxes and organize them for transport to the molding area.
  • Label and identify cores using rack tags.
  • Keep core boxes clean and report any excessive wear or damage to supervisors.
  • Clean, repair, and assemble finished cores as per instructions.
  • Ensure the core machines and production area remain clean and organized.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing basic correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, use hands, and communicate effectively. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and possess specific vision abilities.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter a variety of environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations, humidity, and exposure to machinery, dust, and varying noise levels.
