Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Core Room Utility to join our team at McWane. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our core machines, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and meeting customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Safety and Team Safety: Ensure your own safety and the safety of your team members by following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by performing routine maintenance and repairs on core machines and equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate pneumatic and hand hoists, tow motors, and related equipment to move and position core boxes and other materials.
  • Quality Control: Inspect cores for defects and repair them as needed to ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Production Support: Assist in the production process by selecting the appropriate core box, setting up the machine, and making necessary operation adjustments.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by cleaning and smoothing core boxes, repairing surface imperfections, and reporting excessive wear or damage to supervisors.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
