Job Overview

As a key member of the airport operations team, the Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of airport activities. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Supervisor, this position involves close collaboration with Operations and Maintenance staff through two-way communication systems, as well as coordination with local governmental entities and Air Traffic Control.

Key Responsibilities:

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Managing gate operations while monitoring the Airport Operational Database (AODB) and Flight Information Display System (FIDS).
  • Coordinating with Airfield and Terminal Operations personnel during security, safety, and emergency situations.
  • Executing functions in alignment with the Airport Emergency Plan, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the Access Control System (ACS) and Digital Video Surveillance System (DVSS).
  • Maintaining comprehensive daily operational reports, logs, and checklists.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and information to passengers, tenants, and airport staff.
  • Monitoring the facility's fire alarm and weather information systems.
  • Responding to alerts from various building automation and life safety systems.
  • Utilizing the airport's mass notification system to inform stakeholders as necessary.
  • Being available for additional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A High School Diploma or G.E.D. certification.
  • A Bachelor's degree in aviation management, emergency management, business administration, or a related field is preferred, though not mandatory. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in airport operations or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in customer service and airport operations, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Dependability, initiative, and sound judgment.
Licenses and Special Requirements:

Candidates must have:

  • A valid Driver's license.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain security clearance as required by TSA regulations.
Knowledge and Skills:

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in office productivity software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Familiarity with various computer systems and radio communication equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Access Control, Video Surveillance Systems, and Emergency Paging Software.
  • Understanding of relevant aviation regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of law enforcement and fire department communication protocols.
Abilities:

Candidates should be able to:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Participate in ongoing training specific to the airport and role.
  • Multi-task while maintaining situational awareness.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations.
  • Remain seated for extended periods.
