Position Summary:
We are looking for a Speech Language Specialist who will play a crucial role in delivering specialized instruction to students requiring speech services. This professional will assist students in developing effective communication skills, enabling them to thrive socially and academically. The Speech Language Specialist will employ various instructional strategies, including direct teaching, collaborative projects, and engaging discussions, to create an interactive learning environment that fosters a love for learning.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current New York State licensure as a speech-language pathologist.
  • Certification in CCC-SLP, TSSLD, or TSHH is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of speech-related disorders, their causes, and treatment methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in interpersonal relations, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Director of Special Services.

Job Objectives:
The primary goal is to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • IEP Management:
    Timely completion of Teacher Reports focusing on students' strengths and needs, participation in IEP meetings, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed.
  • Progress Monitoring:
    Maintain special education documentation, assess IEP goals monthly, and provide timely progress reports celebrating student achievements.
  • Collaboration:
    Engage with parents and guardians, attend team meetings, and communicate effectively regarding student screenings and interventions.
  • Instructional Delivery:
    Develop and submit data-driven lesson plans, track student attendance, and provide differentiated instruction tailored to student needs.
  • Speech Assessments:
    Conduct screenings for students identified with speech concerns.
  • Additional Duties:
    Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education team.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $67,000 to $135,000, based on experience, education level, and certification.
