Position Overview

At Propio Language Services, we are dedicated to bridging communication gaps by utilizing advanced technology and innovative solutions to connect individuals across various settings.

Established in 1998, Propio Language Services offers essential interpretation and translation services that enhance the quality of life within the communities we serve. Our commitment is reflected in our ability to provide both remote and in-person services in over 350 languages, catering to more than 6,000 clients through a diverse and highly skilled team of over 5,000 contract interpreters.

We are currently seeking Remote Contract Cantonese Language Specialists who are genuinely motivated to leverage their linguistic abilities to assist others and are passionate about their profession.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver consecutive, first-person interpretation services.
  • Adhere to interpreter protocols and procedures as mandated by Propio L.S. clients.
  • Comply with all Propio L.S. policies regarding confidentiality and ethical standards for interpreters.
  • Continuously enhance vocabulary and specialized knowledge in various subject areas, including medical, legal, and social services, as required by different clients.
Qualifications:
  • Submission of an updated resume in English at the time of application.
  • Completion of an English Language Proficiency assessment with a rating of "technical proficiency" (3 or higher on the ILR scale).
  • Successful completion of a mock oral interpretation session, evaluated against 24 quality standards with a passing score.
  • Completion of Propio's online assessments in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology, achieving a passing score.
  • Undergo a full background check and security screening.
  • Sign a commitment to confidentiality, ethical adherence, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of interpreting experience.

  • National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
  • International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA)
  • California Healthcare Interpreters Association (CHIA)
