Job Summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a qualified Teacher Assistant to provide support to students and teachers in our educational environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with instructional activities, such as preparing materials, leading small groups, and providing one-on-one support to students.
  • Help students with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding needs.
  • Provide behavioral assistance, including utilizing positive crisis management skills.
  • Assist with adaptive equipment needs and provide support for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution or 60 semester hours of earned college credit from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Successful completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum at a designated technical college and achievement of a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment Test or other officially sanctioned standard tests.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in educational software.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six earned semester hours in the area of Human Growth and Development.
  • Bilingual skills.
Working Conditions

The Teacher Assistant will work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff members on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing circumstances.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is $16.00 - $21.91 per hour, with opportunities for advancement and professional growth. Broward County Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
