Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join our team at Commonpoint Queens. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of children aged 5-14 in our special education after-school program.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Support: Provide guidance and supervision to children in a safe and nurturing environment, promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate attendance records, complete daily reports, and assist with program planning and evaluation.
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement engaging activities and programming that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring a safe and healthy space for children to learn and grow.
  • Chaperone and Transportation: Escort children to and from activities, ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and program directors to ensure seamless program delivery and effective communication.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge in youth development and program management.
Requirements
  • Age and Experience: Open to all ages, including high-school-aged students, with a strong desire to work with children and youth.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, peers, and families in a friendly, patient, and respectful manner.
  • Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Cultural Competency: Familiarity with working with diverse populations and the ability to demonstrate cultural competency in your interactions with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, approximately 19 hours per week, with a salary range of $16-$17 per hour, commensurate with experience.
