Junior Civil Engineer

Position Overview
The Junior Civil Engineer will collaborate closely with a licensed professional engineer to support project teams in developing exceptional designs for various initiatives, including new constructions, modifications, and redevelopment projects. This role involves engaging with the project team throughout both the design and construction phases, making necessary adjustments to civil plans based on budgetary limits, design considerations, or client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project responsibilities encompass site development for a diverse array of military facilities and/or the design of airfield infrastructure projects, such as runways, taxiways, and aprons for military, commercial, or municipal clients. Specific duties may include:
- Master planning and designing airport facilities and federal installations.
- Creating comprehensive designs for site development and supporting infrastructure, including airfield layouts, facility orientations, vehicular and pedestrian access, and stormwater management systems.
- Upholding corporate technical standards for the design, construction, and assessment of both flexible and rigid pavements.
- Designing utility systems to support federal, aviation, and fuel system facilities.
- Overseeing the construction of airfield pavements and other airport enhancement projects.
- Assisting with additional projects as directed by management.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, along with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- A Master of Science degree in Engineering may substitute for one year of professional experience.
- Strong preference for candidates who have completed the FE or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exams.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Prior internship or relevant consulting experience is advantageous.
- Active involvement in campus or community activities.
- Fundamental knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques, principles, and practices.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- A methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving, demonstrating critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Basic skills in software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, and MathCADD.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
