Position Overview

The Account Representative plays a crucial role in managing billing processes and ensuring effective Revenue Cycle follow-up. This position is essential for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of all submissions to maximize reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for patients regarding their billing inquiries, both in-person and via phone.
  • Advocate for patients to resolve issues related to unpaid claims.
  • Manage insurance plans requiring authorizations and referrals.
  • Provide educational support on billing procedures to staff and healthcare providers.
  • Handle all correspondence related to medical necessity letters and record requests from insurance entities.
  • Review denial notices and communications from relevant parties as necessary.
  • Generate and analyze revenue cycle reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain professional communication with colleagues, insurance companies, management, and physician office staff.
  • Document all transactions accurately on a daily basis, forwarding logs to the finance department at month-end.
  • Ensure timely and precise entry of charge information into the system.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of billing regulations as they pertain to various payers.
  • Oversee all accounts receivable activities.
  • Assist in preparing bank deposits as directed.
  • Support the office manager with clinical insurance requirements.
  • Post fees related to medical record requests.
  • Participate in all relevant meetings and training sessions related to revenue cycle and billing.
  • Disseminate key information and updates to staff and providers as necessary.
  • Work through Epic Work Queues on a daily basis.
  • Run all EPIC Revenue Cycle reports regularly.
  • Respond to phone inquiries promptly, ensuring all communications are documented in the medical record.
  • Be prepared to assist as a Medical Receptionist when required.
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in billing processes.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding for accurate claims processing.
