**Job Summary:**

The Solution Center Specialist position at UMass Lowell provides student-focused support in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, facilitating transactions, processing paperwork, and tracking student inquiries in the areas of Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Financial Services.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide timely and accurate support to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Facilitate transactions, process paperwork, and resolve issues related to Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Financial Services.
  • Utilize student relational database systems, such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.0, to manage student data and resolve inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of university, state, and federal policies related to financial aid, registration, and billing functions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of services and resolve complex issues.
  • Stay up-to-date on policy changes, procedures, and best practices to provide accurate and informed support.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of customer service experience, or a HS Diploma or GED/equivalent with 3-5 years of directly related customer service experience.
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computers and competency in navigating and performing data entry in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with student relational database systems, such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.0, preferred.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Master's degree and 1-2 years of related higher education experience in a professional capacity.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: Financial Aid, Registrar, or Student Billing.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate university, state, and federal policies as they relate to financial aid, registration, and billing functions.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information and make independent decisions.
