Senior Accounting Professional

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in performing general accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties. This position handles various aspects of accounting for the organization, including maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers.
Responsibilities:- Accurate and timely month-end closing, preparation, and entry of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, and calculation of owner's distributions, and maintenance of cash sheets.
- Reviewing all deposits for accuracy and completeness.
- Reconciling all checking, savings, and investment accounts.
- Compiling mid-month and end-of-month management billing to invoice properties.
- Maintaining balance sheet for utilization in correct reporting of monthly financial and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Analyzing and monitoring utility costs, distributing reports to benchmark properties, and evaluating overall performance.
- Maintaining and overseeing electronic Purchase Order Processing system and internal electronic invoice payment procedure.
- Direct supervision of two Account Payable Specialists.
- Assisting with training of new employees or new duties to financial staff.
- Responsibility for payroll processing, including submitting employee payroll online and recording into accounting and billing system.
- Overseeing and maintaining Employee Personnel files (onboarding paperwork, employee reviews, and compensation changes, etc).
- Responsibility for onboarding and offboarding employees.
- Responsibility for management and oversight of employee benefits.
- Responsibility for draw disbursements to owners for quarterly tax payments and monthly draw.
- Compiling year-end financial reports for tax preparation, providing accurate reconciliations, and supporting documentation to external accounting firm.
- Responsibility for creating accounting operations processes and systems that are consistent and reliable.
- Developing and implementing accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum of one to three years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Prior experience in property management is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, and accounting software knowledge.
- Yardi Voyager property management software.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of cash forecasting, planning, and management.
- Prior experience reading and comprehending financial statements.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
