Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Electric Utility Reliability Coordinator to join our Utilities and Infrastructure Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Laboratory's electric transmission and distribution systems, ensuring they support our critical mission.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain the LANL electric transmission and distribution systems in alignment with reliability standards and operational limits.
- Collaborate closely with Operations Specialists, System Engineers, Maintenance, and Safety personnel to support efficient electric system operations.
- Develop, communicate, and execute switching orders, working in tandem with field personnel to ensure precise implementation.
- Monitor and maintain system configurations, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain system integrity.
- Proficient knowledge or experience in electric transmission or distribution systems or similar system operations.
- Ability to analyze/troubleshoot operational system problems and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to understand supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) control and operations.
- Demonstrated experience in developing procedures.
- Experience in maintaining operating system configuration and updating.
- Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in a wide variety of operations and maintenance activities including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proven experience independently conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting equipment maintenance and operations.
- Experience training and mentoring less-experienced employees.
- Position requires a high school diploma and 5 years of related experience or a relevant Associates Degree and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
- Experience with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) control and operations.
- Understanding of NERC reliability standards.
- Experience operating and maintaining electrical systems.
- Experience working with Union Craft.
- Ability to obtain Q Clearance.
- Color discrimination.
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment:Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
