Electrical Engineer Level 3 or 4 Position

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer Level 3 or 4 to join our team in Los Alamos, NM. As an Electrical Engineer Level 3 or 4, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for new facilities and facility modifications.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop electrical systems for new facilities and facility modifications
- Provide senior engineering expertise and mentoring to junior engineers
- Assess, maintain, and upgrade structural systems at LANL to support national security
- Represent Engineering Services Division as a leader in effective and efficient project execution
- Develops and approves conceptual and detailed designs that ensure third-party designs are code-compliant and meet our customer's needs
- Assess condition of existing facilities and infrastructure systems
- Expertly apply engineering judgement to engineering challenges
- Utilize your experience to prepare accurate cost estimates to our customers
- Work to scope both internally and externally executed design projects
- Produce high-level design deliverables including drawings, specifications, test and inspection plans (TIPs), statements of special inspections (SSIs), and calculations
- Adhere to LANL's Engineering Standards, Conduct of Engineering, prevailing codes and standards
- Review construction submittals, provide RFI responses and generate Document revisions
- Support organizational initiatives for improvements of design and business practices
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- Minimum 6 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above
- Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable
- Current Professional Engineering (PE) License in Electrical Engineering
- Design experience in nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations
- Master's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering Principles and procedures
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position Commitment:Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
