Patient Care Associate: Resource Pool

Shift: 7am-7:30pm

Work Environment: Onsite

Summary:

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing ongoing observation and personalized care for a designated group of patients under the guidance of a licensed nursing professional.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver continuous, individualized observation and monitoring of assigned patients.

2. Implement evidence-based de-escalation techniques as necessary.

3. Ensure a secure environment for oneself, patients, and others.

4. Maintain alertness and attentiveness at all times to safeguard the well-being of the patient.

5.

Administer direct patient care, including taking vital signs and transporting patients to various departments as directed by a licensed nurse.

6. Replenish linens and medical supplies as needed.

7. Accurately document observations, interventions, and relevant information in a timely manner using EPIC.

8. Prioritize and complete tasks for assigned patients efficiently.

9. Promptly notify nursing staff of any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.

10. Maintain a composed and professional demeanor for the patient and their family members.

11. Adhere to all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.

12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information:
Technical Skills

1. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

2. Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

4. Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) or similar systems is preferred.

Education and Qualifications

1.

Education:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

2.

Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

3.

Relevant Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of experience is preferred.

4.

Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience is required.
