Job Summary:
A clinical professional with strong leadership skills is sought to assist the manager in the daily operations at the unit level, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience and demonstrated management and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction regarding unit goals and work environment by assisting the nurse manager in their duties.
- Demonstrate personal and professional accountability for self and staff.
- Maintain unit safety for staff and patients.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Support staff recruitment and retention efforts.
- Use critical thinking to provide patient care management through staffing plan development, managing daily shift staffing, and delegation of resources.
- Support human resource management, including coaching, timekeeping, development, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
- Support patient care and staffing needs throughout the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise.
- Promote a positive work environment and staff engagement.
- Serve as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients served.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
- Valid Ohio license.
- Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association.
- Relevant professional nursing certification, preferred.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN required.
- Years of experience: Minimum two years relevant clinical experience with demonstrated management and leadership abilities.
- Years of experience supervising: Previous charge nurse or other leadership experience required.
