Patient Care Specialist: Resource Pool Team Member

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our Resource Pool team. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will provide continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Implement evidence-based de-escalation interventions to promote a calm and peaceful environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within our electronic medical record system.
- Prioritize and execute tasks for assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence for patients and their family members.
- Follow all hospital protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs) and Microsoft Office software required.
