The Steel Fabrication Specialist will play a crucial role in welding and constructing structural steel elements utilized in a variety of construction and industrial endeavors. This position requires the ability to read and comprehend blueprints, operate diverse welding machinery, and strictly follow safety protocols to guarantee the quality and accuracy of the final product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ascertain project needs.
  • Utilize welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welders.
  • Cut, fit, and weld various structural steel components, including beams, columns, and trusses.
  • Employ hand and power tools to fabricate, grind, and finish welded surfaces.
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
  • Adhere to safety procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Maintain and repair welding tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Keep the work area organized and tidy.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a welding training program or apprenticeship.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel welding.
  • D1.1 SMAW 3G/4G certification is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of welding principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with welding safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Capacity to work in a physically demanding environment and lift heavy materials.
  • Experience with welding tools and equipment, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welders, grinders, and cutting tools.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and overtime as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be capable of working in a physically demanding environment and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
