Job Summary

Spencer Construction Inc is seeking a highly skilled Structural Steel Fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding structural steel components for various construction and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welders, to fabricate and assemble structural steel components
  • Cut, fit, and weld various types of structural steel components, including beams, columns, and trusses
  • Use various hand and power tools to fabricate, grind, and finish welded surfaces
  • Ensure that all welding work is performed to meet safety, quality, and engineering standards
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects
  • Maintain and repair welding equipment and tools as needed
  • Keep work area clean and organized
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a welding training program or apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel welding
  • D1.1 SMAW 3G/ 4G certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of welding principles, methods, and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with welding safety guidelines and procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift heavy materials
  • Experience with welding equipment and tools, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welders, grinders, and cutting tools
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and work overtime when needed
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions
