Job Overview

Position Summary:

The individual will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of various tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures, as well as engaging in the development of specialized projects and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Constructs and assembles components utilized in the creation of dies, jigs, fixtures, and specialized machinery.
  2. Interprets specifications, lays out metal stock, and operates machine tools to fit and assemble parts for the fabrication and repair of metalworking dies and cutting tools.
  3. Reviews specifications such as blueprints and sketches to determine necessary materials and machinery for part fabrication.
  4. Checks dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision measuring instruments like dial indicators and micrometers.
  5. Demonstrates the ability to fabricate and construct assemblies accurately.
  6. Efficiently assembles and tests products to meet quality standards and delivery timelines.
  7. Interprets complex aerospace drawings and specifications with precision.
  8. Utilizes various fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, and hand tools effectively.
  9. Possesses knowledge of assembly techniques, bonding, riveting, and other processes relevant to tool shop operations.
  10. Positions components and subassemblies using templates or precise measurements.
  11. Conducts basic assembly and testing functions using mechanical skills and a variety of tools in a manufacturing environment.
  12. Performs finishing tasks such as painting parts with various materials, ensuring quality and aesthetics.
  13. Applies assembly techniques including countersinking, riveting, reaming, and drilling as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  1. Ability to understand and execute detailed oral or written instructions.
  2. Familiarity with assembly, bonding, composite materials, and riveting processes.
  3. Knowledge of flight hardware, tooling, and ground support systems.
  4. Strong mathematical skills, including Algebra and Trigonometry.
  5. Experience in setting up and operating band saws, milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.
  6. Proficient in the use of hand tools and basic measurement instruments.
  7. Capability to lift and transport objects weighing between 15 to 50 pounds.
  8. A minimum of six years of experience in assembly, particularly in an aerospace or manufacturing context.
  9. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  10. Willingness to work in varying weather conditions as needed.
