We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Diesel Mechanic II to join our team at Cox Automotive. As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic II, you will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) and DOT Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Diagnose and Repair Vehicle Issues: Use advanced diagnostic techniques to identify and repair problems with vehicle systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
- Perform Minor Adjustments and Repairs: Make minor adjustments and repairs to vehicle equipment, including starters, alternators, fan clutches, and engine electronics.
- Inspect and Test Vehicle Systems: Inspect and test vehicle systems to identify malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
- Communicate with Clients and Customers: Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations.
- Manage Concurrent Tasks and Prioritize Work: Manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to ensure that deadlines are met and work is completed efficiently.
- Document Work Performed: Document work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and inspections, using company-issued iOS devices and proprietary TRAIT application.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required, as well as a valid DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- ASE Certification: Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties, and obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time, and perform moderately heavy laboring work.
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain) Certification: ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification is preferred.
- ASE T4 (Brakes) Certification: ASE T4 (Brakes) certification is preferred.
- ASE T5 (Suspension) Certification: ASE T5 (Suspension) certification is preferred.
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) Certification: ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification is preferred.
- ASE T7 (HVAC) Certification: ASE T7 (HVAC) certification is preferred.
- ASE 608/609 Certification: ASE 608/609 certification is preferred.
- Competitive Hourly Rate: $46.06/hour, with the possibility of additional compensation through commission and/or incentive programs.
