About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lineman to join our team at Salt River Project. As a Lineman, you will play a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and operation of our energized and de-energized overhead and underground transmission, sub-transmission, distribution, services, street lights, communications, and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dig holes, frame, and set poles, install crossarms, pins, insulators, and related equipment using required tools.
  • Erect and replace all poles and towers using rope blocks, boom trucks, winch lines, and associated tools and equipment.
  • Climb poles and towers, install guys, conductors, switches, street lights, capacitors, transformers, and other line equipment.
  • Perform emergency and preventative maintenance on overhead and underground switches, lines, equipment, fixtures, meters, capacitors, poles, transformer cubicles, crossarms, insulators, and related items.
  • Install, splice, terminate, and maintain underground conductors, cubicles, capacitors, and related facilities.
  • Replace, clean, and adjust all street light equipment, including mast arms, fixtures, lamps, photoelectric controls, relays, ballasts, and poles.
  • Use rubber gloves, blankets, line hoses, hotsticks, and related protective equipment as required when working within the contact area of energized conductors.
  • Load and unload poles, crossarms, wire, transformers, and related materials manually or using hoists and/or equipment.
  • Drive and operate trucks, hoists, manlift devices, pulling devices, and other related line equipment as required.
  • Train and/or instruct apprentices, groundmen, operators, or drivers in procedures and safe work methods.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of a state or federal apprenticeship program approved by the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) or completion of a 3-4 year formal training program.
  • Must possess a valid Commercial (Class A) driver's license and/or be able to obtain an Arizona Class A CDL prior to start.
  • Preference given to candidates proficient with hot stick.
Experience and Education

3 to 4 years' experience as a Lineman Apprentice or equivalent experience. Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent.

Testing and Certifications

SRP Lineman Job Knowledge Test, Physical Agility Test, Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, SRP Lineman Pole Climbing Test. For specific list of training certifications, contact departmental manager.
