Position Overview

RS&H is in search of a Head of Financial Operations & Transformation.

Role Summary:

This role encompasses comprehensive oversight of all financial operations personnel, systems, and activities. It also includes the management of related financial reporting and providing ongoing support to the financial leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all facets of financial operations within the organization, including Billing, Collections, Accounts Payable, Expense Reporting, and Project Review. Collaborates with financial leadership to ensure robust internal controls and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. Engages in budget development and management for the department.
  • Leads initiatives for technological and procedural transformation within the financial team, including system upgrades, process enhancements, and reporting improvements. Identifies suitable technologies to optimize business processes and compliance, and manages vendor negotiations.
  • Establishes, monitors, and reports on operational metrics for financial functions to ensure service delivery aligns with established performance indicators.
  • Maintains ongoing reporting of Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) to enhance the sales-to-cash cycle through process optimization.
  • Supports cash flow management by forecasting future billings, collections, payables, and payments.
  • Assists with external audits of financial statements, ensuring compliance with reporting timelines.
  • Sets clear expectations and fosters an engaging work environment, providing constructive performance feedback through regular interactions, recognition, and coaching.
  • Provides direction and oversight to ensure alignment of departmental goals and objectives. Holds full managerial responsibilities, including hiring, performance evaluations, compensation decisions, and staff development.
  • Guides the successful development, implementation, and communication of policies, practices, and procedures within the team and across the organization. Proactively identifies and implements efficiencies to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborates closely with leaders across the Finance Team to achieve departmental and organizational objectives, promoting cross-departmental relationships in support of a unified company culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, along with 12 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the field.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in leading financial operations, including transactional functions such as Billing and Accounts Payable.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing change initiatives related to new policies and processes, including the implementation of new technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing practices, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and leading diverse teams effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification and/or a master's degree is preferred. Experience in public accounting is highly regarded.
