Position Overview:

The Registered Dietitian role is essential for conducting patient evaluations, assessments, and the development of personalized nutrition plans. This position involves regular collaboration with healthcare providers to guarantee that patients receive optimal nutritional care. The Registered Dietitian plays a vital role in supporting the mission and values of Methodist Health System.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients at nutritional risk.
  2. Evaluate and reassess patient needs in a timely manner.
  3. Respond to consultations and requests promptly.
  4. Document nutrition interventions accurately and comprehensively.
  5. Recommend additional nutritional therapies as necessary.
  6. Develop individualized care plans tailored to patient needs.
  7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive care and discharge planning.
  8. Create educational materials based on patient assessments.
  9. Identify and address barriers to patient and family learning.
  10. Effectively communicate dietary requirements and restrictions.
  11. Respect the spiritual, cultural, and privacy needs of patients and families.
  12. Stay informed about advancements in nutrition and related disease states.
  13. Participate in monitoring quality indicators for clinical nutrition.
  14. Assist in food production and policy development as needed.
  15. Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:

  • A degree meeting academic requirements and completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
  • Eligibility to take the American Dietetic Registration Exam.
  • Licensure with the Texas Board of Examiners of Dietitians.
  • Continuing education to maintain registration and licensure.
