Job Summary:
Sonoma State University is seeking a qualified part-time lecturer to teach English courses in the Department of English. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching and a passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Teach three- or four-unit courses as assigned by the Department.
- Follow university Syllabus policies.
- Hold office hours (typically 1 hour per 3-unit course).
Typical Courses:
The successful candidate will typically teach English 101, Expository Writing and Analytical Reading, and ENGLISH 100A/100B, First-Year Composition, which students take as a two-semester course. Additional courses in our program may become available, so please describe your relevant experience in your vita and job letter.
Professional Qualifications:
- Masters or MFA in English, MFA or PhD in English or related fields.
- 2 years teaching experience demonstrating professional commitment to students.
- For creative writing classes, excellent publication record (preferably two volumes published with reputable presses).
Rank and Salary:
Full-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.
