Job Summary

Sonoma State University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced part-time lecturer to join our dynamic team in the Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education. As a part-time lecturer, you will have the opportunity to teach courses and collaborate with colleagues in the Administrative Services Credential Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses and collaborate with colleagues in the Administrative Services Credential Program
  • Incorporate culturally sustaining practices as they relate to leadership in schools and communities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and national trends, issues, innovations, reform efforts, and credentialing requirements
  • Supervise and coach prospective school administrators and interns
  • Participate in academic advising; program design, assessment, accreditation; and related academic and community service
Requirements
  • An earned MA, Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited university in education or a related field, with a focus on Educational Leadership
  • Three years of documented successful experience working as a school or district administrator
  • Broad and deep knowledge of current theory, equity and social justice issues, and current practices related to educational leadership
  • Knowledge and skills to collaborate effectively with local schools and other agencies
  • Leadership experience and expertise in addressing the needs of children and families from diverse linguistic, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  • Leadership experience with faculty, staff, and school board to improve teaching and learning
  • Expertise and theoretical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: organizational theory, school reform, curriculum and learning theory, and/or educational administration (e.g., human resource management, law, policy, finance)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mentoring school administrators in pre-service and in-service programs
  • University level teaching/service experience, which may include university service work, program/curriculum development, program assessment & accreditation
  • Bilingual Spanish (Oral and Written)
