The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in art history, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as courses in specific areas of art history such as Islamic art, Asian art, and contemporary art.
About the Department
The Department of Art and Art History at Sonoma State University is a vibrant and dynamic community of artists, scholars, and educators dedicated to the pursuit of art practices and the study of art history. Our department offers courses of study leading to a B.A. degree in Art History and B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Studio Art, as well as a minor in Museum and Gallery Methods.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses in art history, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as courses in specific areas of art history such as Islamic art, Asian art, and contemporary art.
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the department's goals and objectives.
- Advise students and provide guidance on academic and career goals.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- M.A. in relevant field, PhD preferred.
- Experience teaching art history courses at the undergraduate level.
- Strong knowledge of art history, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as courses in specific areas of art history such as Islamic art, Asian art, and contemporary art.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
