Lead Operator, Electric Control Center Management

Position Overview:
Oversee and manage the operations associated with the continuous functioning of the Local Control Center's transmission, distribution, and generation facilities, focusing on system integrity and dependability.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct computer simulations to assess system status and propose suitable actions, including implementing emergency protocols as needed to uphold system reliability; analyze system anomalies and clearance documentation to ensure proper functioning of system assets; and provide leadership in matters concerning the operation of the Local Control Center's bulk power supply network.
**Availability for 3:00pm-11:00pm shift is required.Core Functions:
Directly and indirectly leads a team of System Operators.
Acts as a representative for Eversource Transmission in meetings focused on daily operations and outages.
Ensures the consistent application of NERC reliability standards, NPCC Criteria, ISO-NE, and Eversource operational protocols and guidelines related to transmission management.
Regularly reviews the implementation of switching and tagging regulations.Effectively distributes workload among off-shift System Operators.
Evaluates Eversource System Operating Procedures (ESOP), Operating Instructions (OI), Procedures and Guidelines, and all proposed EMS modifications that directly impact system operations or monitoring.
Supervises the conduct and development of new personnel and on-the-job training.Approves training materials developed by the Eversource Operations Training team.
Acts as a subject matter expert, providing operational guidance to Operations support teams.
Offers direction to System Operators in resolving operational challenges, including personnel and equipment safety, reliability, compliance with operational standards, and congestion management.
Provides management with insights for the formulation of operational policies and procedures.Assists management as needed in coordinating responses to system emergencies, including leading conference calls for Capacity Deficiency, load restoration, and storm alerts.
Prepares reports on significant occurrences or issues as requested by management.Reviews and monitors the accurate completion of daily logs, disturbance reports, and switching documentation related to control room operations.
Participates in emergency response and disaster recovery planning.
Technical Expertise/Skills/Education/Certifications:
Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge in the following areas:
Grounding and associated switching and tagging protocols
Bulk power system management
Various components that constitute the bulk power system
PC-based applications utilized for monitoring, recording, analyzing, and reporting system operational data
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with personnel at various levels within ISO-NE, ISO-NE satellites, member companies, and neighboring entities.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
Preferred candidates will possess two or more years of experience in Transmission Operations.
Licenses & Certifications:
Must obtain and maintain a NERC Transmission Operator Certificate and adhere to FERC, NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE, and Local Control Center and state regulatory requirements.
Compensation and Benefits:
Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The salary range for this position is $133,620.00 to $148,470.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Employees in this role may be eligible for a rotational shift pay adder. Please refer to the career site for an overview of benefits.
Working Conditions:
Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as necessary.
Must be prepared to travel as required.
Availability for 3:00pm - 11:00pm shift is essential.
