Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Project Manager to oversee the East River Tunnel Rehabilitation Project. This critical infrastructure project requires a complete teardown and rebuild of the rail, power, communications, and signal systems. The successful candidate will execute all aspects of construction project management, ensuring the project is executed in accordance with the agreed-upon scope, costs, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with contractors, construction management consultants, and Amtrak force accounts to ensure project execution
  • Monitor and review potential change requests from the field and assist in preparing change notices
  • Coordinate track and ET outages as necessary
  • Coordinate fieldwork of contractors, including engineers, technicians, and other personnel
  • Provide updates on project progress, including any issues that occurred
  • Review project shop drawings and design plans to ensure contractor compliance
  • Coordinate the preparation and revision of technical/commercial work procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in an operating railroad environment
  • Strong safety focus and ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines
  • Knowledge of scheduling and construction means and methods
  • Ability to prepare and review engineer/change order estimates
  • Strategic and tactical skills for planning and executing complex project work
  • Leadership skills, including effective communication, motivation, and team building
  • Experience working with third-party contractors, construction management consultants, and Amtrak operating departments
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6-10+ years of relevant experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Certified Construction Management (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Construction experience in a railroad environment
