Job Title: Field Representative

Join DASNY (Dormitory Authority) as a Field Representative and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will assist the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in all aspects of project administration, including contract compliance, budgeting, and scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and observe construction activities to ensure compliance with contract provisions and quality standards.
  • Coordinate the work of various trades and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Read, interpret, and comprehend contract plans, specifications, and other related documents to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure that quality is maintained throughout the project lifecycle, from design to completion.
  • Conduct or participate in quality assurance field inspections to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Review bid advertisements, prepare bid summaries, and recommend construction contract awards to Procurement.
  • Schedule and supervise required testing and commissioning, and monitor results to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Represent DASNY as a liaison to client agencies, interacting with clients and making recommendations regarding project approach.
  • Prepare notes and minutes of meetings, and coordinate follow-up activities to ensure project progress.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities among DASNY staff, consultants, contractors, and other project entities.
  • Ensure consultant and contractor compliance with DASNY procedures and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate consultant and contractor deliverables, including thorough understanding of contract deliverables, pre-construction meetings, and project closeout checklists.
  • Continuously evaluate the performance of architects, engineers, contractors, and construction managers, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Utilize project data to prepare status reports and other specialized reports, and estimate costs and monitor project budgets.
  • Review and monitor project schedules, and report observations and recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Review consultant and contractor progress payments, and prepare, evaluate, and make recommendations related to change order proposals.
  • Assist in the evaluation of claims and make recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Develop and maintain records for the project, including contract documents, files, logs, lists, and other records, and utilize project management/reporting systems for recording all project activities.
  • Consult with code enforcement agencies regarding the interpretation and application of building codes and regulations.
  • Maintain liaison with customer agencies and assist in the resolution of issues where appropriate.
  • Manage assigned projects under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures and internal controls.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree plus two years' experience as a Junior Field Representative or Assistant Project Manager, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents.
  • Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills, with ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in PC applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lead and/or participate in team endeavors, with demonstrated record of taking initiative and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills, with ability to interact with clients and other stakeholders.
