We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to oversee safety protocols on construction sites.

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) offers construction management services across various sectors in the United States. Our projects span healthcare, education, laboratories, commercial spaces, manufacturing, retail, food processing, and warehouse development. The role of the EH&S Engineer is critical, requiring a diverse skill set in both technical and managerial aspects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Environmental Health and Safety
  • Certification as a Recognized Safety Professional (e.g., BCSP (GSP or ASP))

Ideal Candidates Will Exhibit:

  • A strong commitment to teamwork and project goals, actively contributing to the safety culture of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A focus on personal and professional growth.

Successful Candidates Should Demonstrate:

  • Conducting regular inspections of job sites to identify and document hazardous conditions, recommending corrective actions.
  • Supporting incident investigations, including interviews, data collection, and documentation.
  • Evaluating various safety plans and permits, such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and others, ensuring effective mitigation strategies.
  • Applying principles of Industrial Hygiene in areas such as Hearing Conservation, Silica, Asbestos, and Lead.
  • Understanding fire safety protocols and the management of flammable materials.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • The responsibilities outlined are intended to provide a general overview of the role. Additional duties may be assigned based on site needs and safety management requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Work occurs in both office environments and outdoor construction sites, involving various physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Work hours will be determined based on project requirements.
  • Noise levels may vary depending on the location.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs may be required.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders may be necessary.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory (including steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and vests).
