We are in search of an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to oversee safety protocols for various construction initiatives.

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) specializes in providing comprehensive construction management services across diverse sectors throughout the United States. Our business offices have successfully managed projects in areas such as healthcare, higher education, laboratory facilities, corporate offices, manufacturing, retail, food processing, and warehouse construction. The role of the EH&S Engineer necessitates a wide array of technical and managerial skills to ensure safety across all construction activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Environmental Health and Safety
  • Certification as a Recognized Safety Professional (examples include):
    • BCSP (GSP or ASP)

Successful Candidates Must Demonstrate:

  • Conducting regular inspections of job sites to identify, document, and recommend corrective actions for hazardous conditions, ensuring that remediation measures are implemented.
  • Supporting incident investigations through interviews, data collection, photography, and thorough documentation.
  • Evaluating various planning and permits, such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, and Energized Work, to ensure effective mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Applying industrial hygiene principles related to Hearing Conservation, Lasers, Silica, Asbestos, and Lead work.
  • Understanding fire safety regulations and the management of flammable and combustible materials.
  • Possessing a solid understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • The aforementioned responsibilities and qualifications are intended to provide a general overview of the role. Additional duties may be assigned based on site needs and safety management requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both indoor office environments and outdoor construction sites, requiring a combination of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
  • Work hours will be determined based on project requirements.
  • Noise levels may vary depending on the location.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs may be required.
  • There may be instances of climbing stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory (including but not limited to steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and vests).
