Waste Connections is seeking an Environmental Engineering Manager to oversee engineering and environmental initiatives across various waste management facilities in the New England region. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and expanding organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct multiple engineering construction and permitting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clients and the sales team to identify and enhance waste management solutions.
  • Analyze and comprehend all permits associated with landfill operations, offering guidance to District Managers to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct environmental audits for landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, and hauling operations.
  • Address regulatory and community inquiries effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A strong desire to lead the company's engineering and environmental efforts while gaining insights across all business areas.
  • Ability to adhere to established protocols with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in interpreting safety regulations, contracts, and engineering documentation.
  • Exceptional technical writing capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify problems, gather data, and draw informed conclusions.
  • Capability to anticipate and manage future compliance requirements in a shifting regulatory landscape.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining robust relationships with sales teams, operations personnel, external consultants, vendors, and clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing projects with significant design, permitting, and construction components.
  • Experience in the solid waste sector is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • A passion for sharing ideas and engaging with others.
  • Experience in liaising with government officials and agencies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
