Position Overview

TRC is on the lookout for an Environmental Scientist or Engineer to join our Ambient Air Monitoring division in the Rock Hill, SC vicinity.

As one of the leading providers of air quality consulting services globally, TRC offers a comprehensive suite of services including ambient air quality assessments, meteorological evaluations, source testing, regulatory compliance, dispersion modeling, performance verification, and expert testimony. Our Air Quality team, comprising over 250 specialists across more than 30 locations, delivers unmatched expertise in air quality consulting, monitoring, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Managing the operation, maintenance, and repair of monitoring equipment at designated project sites.
  • Calibrating sampling instruments in line with manufacturer specifications and TRC protocols.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues as they arise.
  • Conducting field measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and other air contaminants.
  • Ensuring meticulous documentation of data sheets, calibration logs, chain of custody forms, and other necessary records.
  • Compiling and processing data utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • Adhering strictly to health and safety protocols as outlined in the Health & Safety Plan.
  • Identifying and rectifying data discrepancies and resolving technical or mechanical issues related to data integrity.
  • Working independently while demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Completing site-specific training as required.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in air pollutant sampling, including participation in environmental monitoring initiatives.
  • Familiarity with air sampling and monitoring technologies.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Science/Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A foundational understanding of electronics and instrumentation.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and drug screenings.
