POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Full-Time Alarm Monitoring Supervisor for our FPS-MegaCenter Program telecommunications center. This role encompasses supervisory responsibilities, ensuring effective operations and quality control within the dispatch team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee quality assurance and operational continuity for dispatch services across the FPS MegaCenters, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols.
  • Conduct performance reviews of dispatchers by auditing communications, alarm responses, and daily activities, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Manage and approve all training documentation for dispatch personnel.
  • Execute annual performance assessments for dispatch staff, implementing corrective measures as necessary while fulfilling administrative duties with minimal oversight.
  • Administer the dispatch schedule to guarantee adequate staffing for 24/7 operations, including organizing biannual shift bids.
  • Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information encountered during supervisory duties.
  • Review and authorize time and attendance records.
  • Engage with the public, government officials, and law enforcement agencies via radio and telephone, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly through both telephone and radio systems.
  • Process emergency communications accurately using various systems and software.
  • Prepare detailed reports using MS Word and MS Excel, maintaining a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute with minimal errors.
  • Monitor the primary MegaCenter email, responding promptly to inquiries from headquarters and field personnel.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinating maintenance with relevant personnel and contractors.
  • Foster positive relationships with FPS field personnel, addressing inquiries and concerns as they arise.
  • Assume responsibilities for dispatch staff during their absence, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Monitor the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) for critical alerts and disseminate information as needed.
  • Participate in mission continuity testing and regular staff meetings, providing feedback to enhance operations.
  • Address inquiries and complaints, conducting thorough research to provide informed responses.
  • Handle after-hours alarm calls, assisting clients with their concerns.
  • Maintain logs of equipment impairments to support operational integrity.
  • Compile and distribute reports summarizing FPS activities to relevant command staff.
  • Conduct periodic testing of satellite communication devices in collaboration with field personnel.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Submit a monthly report detailing service activities by the 5th workday of the following month.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a 911 dispatch or similar emergency communication role.
  • Strong telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to manage administrative tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with 24-hour emergency communication operations and public safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques and staff management principles.
  • Understanding of customer service standards and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex situations and making informed decisions.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across various levels and departments.
  • Proficient in using personal computers for word processing and spreadsheet tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions. Standard business hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with potential for extended hours or weekend shifts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 100 lbs. The role requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
