Sous Chef

Gourmet Dining is seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Long Island University in Greenvale, NY. As a key member of our culinary department, you will be responsible for the successful operation of our kitchen, assisting in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, and developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and create menus that meet the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Produce and execute catering events that exceed client expectations
- Develop and implement new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary teams
- A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field
- Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training
- Catering experience a plus
- High volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable
- Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet
- Ability to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities
- ServSafe certification highly desirable
