Cybersecurity Compliance Officer

Under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the selected candidate will assume the role of the Information Security Officer (ISO) for the Finance Department. The ISO is responsible for contributing to the strategic planning, development, and management of Information Security incident protocols; formulating and executing policies and operational standards that address information security; and providing expert advice and technical support to management on issues related to information security. The ISO will co-lead initiatives aimed at assessing the potential risks associated with all information assets and will act as a consultant on the application of laws, policies, and standards pertaining to current information security practices. Furthermore, the ISO will serve as the primary liaison with all control agencies to communicate the Department's security policies, incident responses, and action plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant Government Code and State Administrative Manual requirements.

The ISO will investigate, resolve, and report all information security incidents through the appropriate channels; monitor vulnerabilities, threats, and incidents; conduct departmental risk assessments; and facilitate annual information security awareness training for all employees.

Department Information

Special Requirements
The Finance Department operates under a hybrid telework model, requiring employees to work in the office for a minimum of two days during the workweek. This policy may change, and additional in-office days may be mandated at management's discretion.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with KnowB4 Phishing Scam and Training Tool.
  • Experience in risk management, information security, and IT roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster cooperative working relationships.
  • Capacity to manage changing priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Initiative, independence, and sound judgment.
  • Certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is preferred.
