Position Overview:

This role is responsible for overseeing and administering the ethics and compliance framework within the Sutter Health (SH) system at the market/network/service line level. Acting as the lead for a designated market/network/service line, this position ensures the effective implementation of the SH compliance program.

The incumbent will provide strategic oversight and guidance for board activities relevant to their market/network/service line. They will be a key member of the leadership team, driving the ethics and compliance initiatives in alignment with federal regulations and best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing processes, tools, and training programs to maintain a robust compliance program.
  • Authoring advisories and collaborating with implementation teams to mitigate risks.
  • Overseeing investigations and remediation of significant compliance issues.
  • Coordinating with ethics and compliance leaders to ensure cohesive risk management across the system.
  • Conducting necessary reporting and liaising with governmental entities.
  • Participating in market/network task forces aimed at reducing compliance risks.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of compliance issues, program development, and the ability to foster a compliant organizational culture. This role will encompass hospitals and foundations in the Bay Area and will also support the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program.


Education:

Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Master's Degree: Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or a related field.


Certification & Licensure:

CHC-Certified in Healthcare Compliance.


Typical Experience:

A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required.

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Extensive expertise in managing a comprehensive ethics and compliance program.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and operational issues.
  • Proficiency in current regulations governing healthcare operations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.

This position is classified as exempt and is eligible for remote work. The work schedule is full-time, with typical hours from Monday to Friday.
