The Employment Development Department (EDD) is in search of driven and skilled professionals to assist in our cybersecurity risk management initiatives. The Risk Assessment Analyst (SRA) is a highly specialized security professional responsible for conducting focused risk evaluations and generating high-quality deliverables that adhere to established security standards. The SRA collaborates with system proprietors to plan, organize, and execute information technology penetration assessments, as well as develop, update, and maintain system security documentation, including Risk Register Plans of Action and Milestones, and comprehensive security risk evaluations.

The Risk Assessment Analyst will:

Implement IT risk management best practices, including threat modeling and penetration testing, while emphasizing secure architecture principles to mitigate potential risks. Evaluate, advise, and provide consultation on risk management strategies, the effectiveness of security controls, and the application of these controls within technical environments. Investigate and document cybersecurity defense methodologies, guidance, hazards, and threats to proactively address and avert risk incidents. Participate as a team member in executing targeted risk assessments using penetration testing tools and techniques, assessing the functionality of controls, and recommending adjustments or additional measures as necessary. Compile findings into risk assessment reports, monitor risk items in a risk register, and develop corrective action plans. Collaborate with system owners to formulate and sustain system security plans, as well as prepare necessary certification and accreditation documentation. Continuously evaluate security posture and work in partnership with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams. Offer expertise across various IT domains to ensure adherence to enterprise IT security policies, control agency mandates, and cybersecurity best practices. This position may allow for a hybrid work arrangement, with the specific amount of telework determined by departmental needs. Employees are expected to report to their designated office on scheduled in-office days. Travel expenses incurred for commuting to the assigned office are the responsibility of the employee.
