Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Full Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm

**Compensation up to $32.00/hour, depending on experience**

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is actively seeking a Clinical Nutrition Specialist for our health center in Columbus, Ohio. Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Nutrition Specialist:
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition evaluations.
  • Analyze dietary habits to identify health risks and nutritional deficiencies.
  • Utilize medical history, lab results, medication profiles, and dietary records to assess nutrition-related health impacts.
  • Examine psychosocial and behavioral factors influencing food choices and physical activity.
  • Assess patients' understanding and readiness to change dietary behaviors.
  • Observe both verbal and nonverbal cues to enhance effective communication.
  • Organize and interpret data related to nutrition challenges.
  • Identify when referrals to other healthcare professionals are necessary.
  • Prioritize nutrition issues to optimize patient health and recovery.
  • Document nutrition assessments using the PES format (problem, etiology, signs/symptoms) with supporting evidence.
  • Develop actionable plans based on evidence-based nutrition guidelines.
  • Evaluate educational needs and provide tailored nutrition counseling.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up aligned with patient care objectives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate nutrition care.
  • Implement nutrition interventions and communicate care plans effectively.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings as the nutrition expert.
  • Gather data to refine care plans as necessary.
  • Coordinate with food service providers to ensure seamless transitions in patient care.
  • Serve as a resource for medical staff on nutrition-related matters.
  • Maintain productivity standards and effective time management.
  • Document time spent on patient care activities accurately.
  • Develop and deliver nutrition education programs for community outreach.
  • Engage in community initiatives as assigned.
  • Utilize patient satisfaction and therapy effectiveness data to drive improvements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives for nutrition services.
  • Contribute to the development of nutrition-related policies and procedures.
Qualifications for the Clinical Nutrition Specialist:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field is required.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist licensure is required within a year of hire.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification is necessary.
  • 1-2 years of relevant clinical nutrition experience.
  • Proficiency in basic software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with community resources and services.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
