Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Full Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm

**Compensation up to $32.00/hour, depending on experience**

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is actively seeking a Clinical Nutrition Specialist for their health center. Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Nutrition Specialist:
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments.
  • Analyze dietary habits to identify health risks and nutritional concerns.
  • Utilize medical history, lab results, medication profiles, and dietary records to assess nutrition-related issues.
  • Evaluate psychosocial and behavioral factors affecting food access and health understanding.
  • Assess patients' readiness to learn and potential for behavior modification.
  • Observe verbal and nonverbal cues to enhance effective communication.
  • Organize and interpret data related to nutrition challenges.
  • Identify when to consult or refer patients to other healthcare providers.
  • Prioritize nutrition issues to optimize patient health and manage chronic conditions.
  • Document nutrition diagnoses using the PES format and provide supporting evidence.
  • Develop actionable plans based on the underlying causes of nutrition problems, utilizing evidence-based guidelines.
  • Assess educational needs and deliver tailored nutrition counseling.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up aligned with patient treatment objectives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate nutrition care.
  • Implement nutrition interventions and communicate care plans to patients and their families.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions as the nutrition expert.
  • Collect data and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Coordinate with food service providers to ensure effective transitions of care.
  • Serve as a resource for medical staff on nutrition-related issues.
  • Maintain productivity standards and manage time effectively.
  • Document time spent on patient care activities accurately.
  • Develop and deliver nutrition education programs for community outreach.
  • Engage in community initiatives as assigned.
  • Utilize patient satisfaction trends to enhance personal and organizational performance.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities for the nutrition service line.
  • Contribute to the development of nutrition-related policies and goals.
Qualifications for the Clinical Nutrition Specialist:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field is required.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist licensure must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification is necessary.
  • 1-2 years of relevant clinical nutrition experience.
  • Proficiency in basic software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with community services and resources.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
