Role Summary: As a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Specialist, you should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the advanced engineering of systems and electrical/instrumentation equipment related to the design and construction of Direct Reduction facilities and innovative technology projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead E/I plant commissioning and startup activities as necessary.
  • Conduct designs and system analyses through calculations fundamental to Electrical Engineering.
  • Create conceptual designs and collaborate with designers for the development of E/I schematics.
  • Coordinate with Process Engineering and other disciplines on the creation of Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).
  • Maintain the instrument list associated with the P&IDs.
  • Develop logic drawings (E9's) based on various data sources, including P&IDs and vendor operational descriptions.
  • Produce device location drawings (E5 and E6's) in conjunction with the modeling team to ensure proper placement and accessibility for maintenance.
  • Oversee the design and configuration of the Process Control System (DCS) and provide detailed specifications for both hardware and software.
  • Ensure vendors have the necessary information prior to the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to ensure proper design and fabrication.
  • Direct the E/I design efforts as the Lead E/I Engineer for specific projects, managing the work of assigned engineers and designers.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, purchasing quotations, and QA documents.
  • Provide technical support for Aftermarket, Inspections, and Purchasing departments.
  • Analyze vendor-supplied equipment for compliance with engineering specifications and project requirements.
  • Travel to job sites for equipment analysis, data collection, and on-site inspections.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Autodesk products (AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and processes.
  • Experience with specification, startup, and troubleshooting of process control systems (DCS/PLC).
  • Industrial plant experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with design of E/I systems in hazardous areas, adhering to National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
  • Experience with power systems, switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCC), and transformers.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and power systems.
  • Ability to design bulk items such as cable trays, conduits, and lighting systems.
  • Willingness to obtain PE certification if required for domestic projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering (or similar) is required.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years in an industrial or technical environment.

Travel Requirements: 10% - 25% yearly average for both International and Domestic travel, with potential for increased travel during project demands.

Note: Candidates must be eligible to work on a W2 basis.
