Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct designs and system evaluations through calculations fundamental to Electrical Engineering.
- Create and illustrate conceptual designs, relaying ideas to designers for the development of E/I schematics.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering and other disciplines in the creation of Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&ID's).
- Manage the instrument list associated with the P&ID's.
- Generate logic diagrams (E9's) from diverse data points and coordinate with other project disciplines.
- Produce device location diagrams (E5 and E6's) in partnership with the modeling team to ensure optimal placement and maintenance access.
- Design and configure the Process Control System (DCS) and guarantee the provision of accurate information for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
- Lead the E/I design initiatives for projects by guiding assigned engineers and designers, reviewing drawings and calculations, developing specifications, and ensuring deliverables align with schedule requirements.
- Evaluate and approve purchasing quotations, vendor drawings, and quality assurance documents.
- Coordinate projects with external engineering consultants and third-party engineering firms.
- Offer technical support for Aftermarket, Inspections, and Purchasing departments.
- Assess designed and vendor-supplied equipment for compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Innovate new technology designs and integrate them into larger systems.
- Travel to project sites for equipment evaluation, data gathering, on-site inspections, and project support.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. A Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or a related field may also be considered based on relevant experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in an industrial or technical setting.
- Experience within the steel industry is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic skills in Autodesk products (AutoCAD).
- Exceptional technical writing and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to meet deadlines and deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering technical skills and processes.
- Experience with specification, startup, and troubleshooting of process control systems (DCS/PLC).
- Willingness and ability to obtain PE certification if necessary for domestic projects.
- Experience with international travel.
- Experience in industrial plant settings.
- Design of E/I systems in hazardous environments adhering to NEC/NFPA and local codes.
- Specification, startup, and troubleshooting of power systems, switchgear, MCC, MV motors, transformers, etc.
- Industrial instrumentation and/or power systems (specification, commissioning, and/or troubleshooting).
- Design of bulk items such as cable tray, conduit, cable specification, lighting, and grounding.
- Design of E/I Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) design and calculations.
- Leadership and team direction

- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- This position requires 10% international and domestic travel based on project demands.
- The work environment includes prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with the ability to move around project sites, including climbing structures via ladders or stairs.
