Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer who possesses a robust understanding of developing strategies for the effective management, operation, and maintenance of systems and applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a diverse range of Linux systems and applications, particularly in high-volume and high-availability environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure IBM Sterling software.
  • Assess systems and upgrades for suitability.
  • Support Informatica, assist with OpenShift, and enhance automation using Ansible.
  • Oversee the implementation of system upgrade strategies.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex solutions.
  • Coordinate with other technical personnel as necessary.
  • Develop and analyze intricate system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to optimize system performance.
  • Maintain all server-side Security Certificates to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.
  • Document strategies for managing the frequency of installations of support package releases and patches.
  • Research and document current systems technologies, serving as a subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures.
  • Install and maintain Red Hat Linux 7 and 8 server operating systems along with various Linux applications and services, including Apache, TomCat, Kerberos, LDAP, MySQL, Satellite Server, Centrify, Java, Pacemaker, Bash, Python, and Ansible scripting.
  • Support Oracle database installations and set up shared storage.
  • Ensure the security posture and implement patches for Linux assets during scheduled maintenance windows.

Required Skills

  • Monitor system maintenance and provide technical recommendations for enhancements.
  • Thorough understanding of server protocols, including NTP, SMTP, SFTP, and email routing.
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external personnel on complex system administration and installation processes.
  • Share knowledge and mentor less experienced personnel.
  • Deep understanding of incident handling protocols and information management procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop complex technical solutions and keep them informed of relevant developments in technical support products.
  • Respond promptly to break-fix issues for Linux assets as per operational requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-3) level 3 certified.
  • Experience with Puppet and Git/GitHub.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
  • Experience providing services to federal government entities is advantageous.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator or in a similar role.
  • 4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
