The Idaho National Laboratory is in search of a Visual Content Creator to enhance the Visual Communications division within the External Engagement & Communications directorate.

This role operates on a structured 9x80 schedule on the Idaho Falls campus, providing every other Friday off.

Your primary responsibility will be to produce visual materials for internal communications that reflect the laboratory's core values, strategies, and performance metrics, as well as employee programs, policies, and tools. You will apply innovative and artistic concepts to achieve various laboratory objectives. Additionally, you will contribute to content creation and strategic insights for external communications, public relations, and marketing initiatives aimed at informing stakeholders, sponsors, elected officials, collaborators, media, and the general public.

This position is a one-year project hire with the potential for conversion to a regular, full-time role.

You will report directly to the Labwide Communications Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and manage the production of internal and external communication materials.
  • Advise on best practices for effectively sharing successes and assisting experts in tailoring their messages for target audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with INL and Department of Energy branding, messaging, and approval standards.
  • Assist with photo and video shoots, including equipment preparation, setup, and teardown.
  • Capture headshots and portraits under the guidance of the lead photographer.
  • Perform minor edits as directed by the lead photographer or videographer.
  • Edit video content under the supervision of the lead videographer, including preparing footage, audio synchronization, rough cuts, and gathering additional assets.
  • Support as a second camera operator during photo/video shoots.
  • Fulfill assignments as directed by the lead photographer/videographer.
  • Assist with pre-production and post-production tasks such as stock and music searches.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of photography theory, principles, and practices.
  • Familiarity with field production techniques and standards.
  • Proficient in current digital photography techniques and systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Knowledge of Canon EOS camera systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level 1: Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.

Level 2: Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience or High School Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license, as responsibilities include transporting visitors in a government vehicle.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, often on short notice.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation Information:

  • The salary range for this position is: Level 1 Salary grade 410 ($45,300-$88,440) / Level 2 Salary grade 420 ($54,876-$107,064). Compensation decisions at Idaho National Laboratory are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • This is a testing designated position; candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and periodic drug testing throughout their employment.
  • This is a multi-level posting, and candidates will be placed at the appropriate level based on their experience and skills.
