The Idaho National Laboratory is on the lookout for a Visual Content Creator to enhance the Visual Communications team within the External Engagement & Communications directorate.

This role operates on a structured 9x80 schedule on the Idaho Falls campus, allowing for every other Friday off.

The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting visual materials that support laboratory-wide employee communications, focusing on core values, strategic initiatives, performance metrics, and various employee programs, policies, and tools. The role requires innovative and artistic contributions to meet diverse laboratory objectives. Additionally, you will provide strategic insights and content for external communications, public relations, and marketing efforts aimed at informing stakeholders, including partners, sponsors, elected officials, collaborators, media, and the general public.

This position is a one-year project hire with the potential for conversion to a regular, full-time role.

Reporting to the Labwide Communications Services Manager, this position does not include managerial duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of internal and external communication products.
  • Advise on best practices for effectively communicating successes to target audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with INL and Department of Energy branding, messaging, and approval standards.
  • Assist with photo and video shoots, including equipment preparation, setup, and breakdown.
  • Capture headshots and portraits under the guidance of the lead photographer.
  • Perform minor edits as directed by the lead photographer or videographer.
  • Edit video content under the supervision of the lead videographer, including footage preparation, audio synchronization, rough cuts, and gathering additional assets.
  • Support as a secondary camera operator during photo/video shoots.
  • Fulfill assignments as directed by the lead photographer/videographer.
  • Assist with pre-production and post-production tasks, such as stock and music searches.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of photography principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with field production techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge of contemporary digital photography methods and systems.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience with Canon EOS camera systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level 1: Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.

Level 2: Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience or High School Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience.

  • A valid driver's license is required, as responsibilities include transporting visitors in a government vehicle.
  • Flexibility in schedule is necessary, with potential for short notice assignments, including evenings and weekends.
  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation Information:

  • The salary range for this position is: Level 1 Salary grade 410 ($45,300-$88,440) / Level 2 Salary grade 420 ($54,876-$107,064). Compensation decisions are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
